I recently read a quote that said:
"Remember, the Art is for them, but the journey is for you."
As poetic as that sounds, I kinda disagree. Let me explain...
While it is totally true, creating art is a journey in itself, and yes the art is for others BUT when I complete a painting, and it leaves my studio - this is the end of my journey with it. The journey now begins for the collector.
I have had numerous people tell me stories of how a piece has communicated to them at different times in different ways a long time after they have hung it in their homes. This is part of why I love my profession as an artist. The journey behind the brush and beyond.
A piece of art truly starts its journey when it becomes a part of someone else's life.
